Please read the Qualifications for the Southern Nytes Award. If your site does not meet the Qualifications, it will be disqualified and will not be evaluated on the criteria.
The Southern Nytes Award is based on a 10 point criteria. The ten points of the Criteria are listed below with a detail of what the evaluators will be looking for .
Each Criteria has a 1 point value. A site must score 7 points to receive an award.

Remember, there is only one award, so a site must be exceptional to win this award.
Content/Originality/Creativity
The content of your site should be interesting to the average person viewing your site. Not all of us may be interested in the subject matter of your site, but the way you present it, be it original or not, should "grab" the interest of the visitor.

Attitude: A site can tell a lot about the Webmaster. The effort to make the best site to your capabilites. Do you have on your site when It was last updated? Is it evident that you maintain your site? External,Internal and images links working? (Note: See Qualifications . Too many broken links will disqualify a site. Alt tags on graphics. Meta tags on pages . Page Headers. A copyright statement. Note: If you use material that is not your own, please give credit to the owner. A privacy statement. If you have a way for the visitor to send you email, you are collecting information and should have a privacy statement |

Design/Layout Having an opening page or Entrance page that is free of clutter. This page should be a banner or simply the site name. This can be a flash introduction, but of course there would be a way to skip the intro. This page should have no advertisements, external links, web rings. Acceptable would be a page counter or Stat counter. Pages are organized and not cluttered with unneccessary banners,etc that does not pertain to your site. Backgrounds on the pages should be consistent. Text --font size and color -easily readable on all pages. |
Navigation: Is there navigation on every page. Is the navigation clean and flawless and found in the same place on every page. Can I go to any page on your site, including the homepage without using my browsers back key? Is the text on any navigation buttons easily readible. Title tags on Navigation elements. Are there top of page links on long pages? |

Awards Page(s): The awards you have won for your site should be displayed proudly and in an organized manner. Award Program owners like to see their awards and those of others who take the time to evaluate your site--displayed with honor and pride. |
Interaction: Do you provide a way for visitors to contact you or have a guess book on your site? |

Graphics: Graphics can make a site---but they should be relevant to the site and not clutter up the site. Graphics should be optimized and pixelated. Fuzzy graphics or little x's where there is suppose to be a graphic is unacceptable. Animated gifs are acceptable but should be relevant to the page and not overly done. |

Overall Impression: These points are for the first, last , lasting and overall impression the evaluator has after visiting your site. |

Application: Place the name of your site as the first words in the description area of the application. The description of your site should be as such--what your site is aboutl . |

Loading Time: I use a cable modem. Pages should fully load in 30 - 45 seconds. We understand that sometimes a connection is not perfect at all times, if there is a problem we will try at another time. |
